Optimal Transmission Expansion Planning with Long-Term Solar Photovoltaic Generation Forecast

Solar PhotoVoltaics (PV) integration into the electricity grids significantly increases complexity of Transmission Expansion Planning (TEP) because solar PV power generation is uncertain and difficult to predict. Therefore, this paper proposes optimal planning method for transmission expansion combined with generation. The problem solved by using Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) forecasting radiation high accuracy. objective function minimize total system cost, including investment cost new lines operating TEP Binary Differential Evolution (BDE) algorithm. To investigate demonstrate performance proposed method, IEEE 24-bus data in Thailand are selected as a study case TEP. MATPOWER program written MATLAB software used solving flow problems. Simulation results show that LSTM can reduce 9.12% compared obtained from statistical data.
